About
Serge Guay is a cabinetmaker born in L’Assomption , Québec and raised in Montreal. Son of an inventor and artisan he developed a taste of artistry and the love of exacting work. For seven years he did construction work in Calgary, then returned to Quebec in 1982 to work in decoration From 1996 to 2001 he studied cabinetmaking at the National School of furniture at Cegep de Victoriaville in Montreal He then obtained in 2002 a diploma in cabinet making at the Emile Legault in ville St-Laurent , and in 2003 a diploma in furniture finishing at the School of Furniture Crafts ( Ecole des Métiers du Meuble ) of Montréal Self-employed for the last 30 years , in 2006 he settled in Ste-Béatrix in Lanaudière , the village he has loved since his childhood days. There he built his house , in the 18th century Breton style whose period details recalls the old Europe of Castles style where the warmth of wood predominates. His trips to Europe confirmed his passion for the cachet and prestige of period woodwork He is equally versatile , working in construction and renovation , carpentry and finishing , from the cellar to the attic Serge speaks in French and English. Member of the RBQ (Quebec Building Board) and the APCHQ Lanaudière (Provincial Association of Home Builders of Quebec)
